Turndown Service with Julia Frazee

Turndown Service with Julia Frazee

Recent Southern California transplant, Julia Frazee, is Cove’s secret weapon and marketer extraordinaire. To say she’s our emergency contact for any stress-related moment is probably an understatement, as being a Cali-resident makes her the point person for all things sun, rest, and relaxation! When she’s not working, she’s browsing bikinis, indulging in her Yoga habits, and smelling the roses (candles). Read on to learn more on how Julia turns down after each day and maintains her peace of mind.

What are your favorite (hidden) oases? Favorite places to be - parks, cities, bars, any place you absolutely adore!

I just moved to Southern California, so the beach is my go-to place to be right now. I love driving along the coast and finding hidden spots to watch the sunset. Also the library! Whenever I’m in a new town, going to the library is super relaxing because it’s nostalgic for me.

What oasis is on your bucket list? Travel wishlist!!

Hawaii and Tahoe!! Trying to take advantage of all the cool spots over here while I’m on the West coast.

What book are you currently unwinding with?
I just started A Natural History of the Senses.

What 4-5 songs make up the sound track of your life?

The soundtrack of my life is any song that I never get sick of, and that I can dance, cook, or drive to. My top 5 are You Only Live Once by The Strokes, By Your Side by Sade, A Sunday Kind of Love by Etta James, Let it Happen by Tame Impala, and Dancing in the Moonlight by King Harvest.

Where is your favorite hidden space in your home?

My fridge! Lol! I absolutely love cooking and nutrition, and going to the farmer’s market to stock my fridge up is the most satisfying thing for me.

What is your personal “turndown routine” that helps you transition from day to night?

I like to cook dinner, do a quick clean-up around the apartment, light a few candles, and then change into the comfiest clothes possible to watch a movie or do some apartment shopping.

What is something you do just for you?

Yoga. Although I enjoy doing it with my boyfriend or in a class, I especially love doing it alone because it’s my time to focus on how my body feels and meditate through anything that’s been bothering me lately.

What’s your favorite maxi dress or jumpsuit and why?

The Reformation Frankie Silk dress is my favorite maxi of all time. I wore it in navy to my brother’s wedding last autumn. It’s such a classic silhouette and so easy to accessorize, so I know I’ll keep wearing it again and again.

Since you’re making the move from the Northeast to Cali, what do you think will be your new Southern Cali wardrobe staples?

Bikinis!! Not that I didn’t already have a minor obsession before, but now that it’s beach weather almost all year round I’m leaning into my love for them even more. Also, anything flowy like dresses and skirts that can take me from the beach to dinner to drinks- I’m ditching tight jeans and puffy coats for the time being and couldn’t be happier about it!

Speaking of just moving, do you have any tips for staying organized while packing and not getting overwhelmed when unpacking?

Luckily I have a very organized boyfriend who I moved with, so we had labeled bins in the truck which made finding things so much easier when we moved in. Another thing that helps me is NOT procrastinating- I start unpacking immediately wherever I am. I’d rather have things all over the floor and in plain sight than shoved into a bin or closet! That way, I’m motivated to put things in their right places as opposed to closing the door and ignoring them.

What pieces are you most excited to get for your new home?
We desperately need a sofa and I’m so excited to pick one out. I feel like they’re the centerpiece of an apartment because everyone gravitates to them, and I want a bigggg comfy one to fit everyone who comes over. I love rugs, throw pillows, and anything with pattern and color, so I’m searching for the perfect pieces to make my home as cozy as possible.
